"Activity dedicated to restoration pruning" by Croqueurs de Pommes de l'Avesnois-Thiérache
Coordinated and led by Jean-Pierre Delebecque, Michel Loiseau et Michel Religieux of the non-profit "Croqueurs de Pommes de l’Avesnois-Thiérache ", the trimming session was scheduled for Saturday, October 19, 2019 at La Chaussée d'Hary, in the Aisne region.
The event was devoted to restoration pruning, restoration and preservation techniques on old fruit trees.
The "Avesnois-Thiérache" association works to safeguard the region's historic fruit varieties, through the use of these varieties (table fruit, fruit for juice, cider or eau de vie, and cooking recipes); but also by setting up arboriculture workshops to teach tree propagation and grafting techniques.
The non-profit works to make people aware of the importance of preserving their region's fruit varieties, by passing on pomology-based tools such as the description and identification of the fruit they own.
